Small River Trotting: Chasing Scales Species Hunt (EPISODE 19)
So beautiful
Wait these are in the uk? I hope they expand so we can have a lot of lizards running around
i'm so enjoying this video. thanks and greets from Holland (yeah yeah, i know).
From escaped garden ponds ? Surely " escaped from garden ponds" ?
I'd love to see a buzzard fact file. I have loads near where I live. I'd like to attract them to get a closer look.
Bitterling and Gudgeon too big. Stone Loach and Bullhead should be on the list.
What about the stone loach and Bullhead ? Was it a size thing ?
They compete with native species for food, spaening places and will just destroy whatever bait you put on the hook not letting u fish normaly
Its terrible 😭😭😭
0:39 I J river? 😂
yea, i hoped for large, cooled tank with massive filtration.
Ventnor Isle of Wight is inundated with wall lizards iv seen them in mid winter basking on a sunny day we have a large down behind us and protected by northerly winds creating a micro climate with exotic plants just self seeding everywhere.
Good luck to you
What is the normal months that the 3 spined stickleback breeds? Does it depend on the water temperature? As the warm weather has come later this year especially up north of England would this delay the breeding?
Are these brook lampreys as opposed to the sea going version? I remember the brook ones in a small stream in Kent many years back. I guess so, the grayling looks quite small and I recall those lampreys being about 6 inches or so long.
Nice video mate,I take it they are freshwater lamprey,I am sure we had them in our local river when we were kids,60 years ago,the dove derbyshire
I wonder how many fish there'd be if fish didn't eat each others eggs.
Just had a 2ft one curled up on top of my compost bin. Overcast day but enough warmth to make the bin a really nice spot.
A Beautiful creature
Fascinating. Last time I went crabbing I couldn't catch anything because those little blighters kept stealing my bait. Great to watch them do it though.
What were you using I'm struggling to find some to catch
I love Jeremy Wade ❤️
Beautiful voice mate and tench fishes are so sweet like 👇if u love tench fishes 🐟Anyway PEACE ✌️
nice footage mate, do you only film them or do you fish them as well? cheers
The first fish I ever caught was a small tench about 6 inches long. Will never forget it.
Used to catch Ruffe all the time when I was younger. Used to use a hand line in the canal under bridges and either caught eel or Ruffe. Rarely catch either species on the same canal now.
Me an my man
Beautiful pond mate
Tench are beautiful fish
only thing missing is the most iconic thing featured in all UK water ways the good old Tesco shopping trolly
last summer i saw hundreds of these swimming around in the rhyne but i havent spotted any yet this year
Never add soil to a pond. Lily tubers can be weighted to the gravel. The fish will feed the plants. You need a bog filter in a barrel.
can i take live fish from the rivers, it says you can on the gov website but is that just dead or alive aswell
Were they more widespread historically?
Watching them 'fly' is funny. They just don't seem to have any control, especially if there's a bit of a breeze.
nice slender look to them
Canadian bullhead catfish?
We also have a small number of Aesculapius snakes thriving in the UK, they are non-native but not classed as an invasive species
not hygrnic😂
I'd never guess that was a Gudgeon. Looks like a darter with a goldfish mouth.
The Pogge wins it for me, awesome little fish 👍
yeah would be great to get one on rod and line at some point
See those seals all the time but I’m mainland Scotland aha
There have 2 back teeth 1 on each side to hold the pray 🐍
He didn't find the hole 😅😅
Wells catfish in a non filtered 2m x 2m pond? 🤔
There are lots of pond plants that are very happy to grow in gravel in the pond - they rake the nutrients from the pond water (which is a good thing as your fish will be producing nutrients non stop!). Floating plants are good too to take out excess nutrients from the water and help keep water more clear ish.
The little owl is a great example of how not all "non-native" species are some sort of "problem". They evolved alongside virtually every native plant and animal in Britain just a short distance away in continental Europe. The flora and fauna of any given area is never static, and a purest obsession with whats "strictly native" is nonsense when applied to the unending complexities of time and space.
Total BS These fish are being spread due to man moving them around. That DOES NOT equate to invasive, in fact most of them have been in the UK since Noah was a lad and they are still largely unknown across 90++++++% of the UK.
